Passport Laws Temporarily Lifted

Due to long delays in processing passport applications, President Bush has temporarily lifted Passport requirements for air travel to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda for the next six months.
The State Department has been flooded with new applications causing a delay in processing passports, causing troubles for some travelers that have made reservations but are awaiting their documentation. This “lift” is being put in place to help clear the backlog of passport applications while allowing people to travel without it.
This lift doesn’t mean that passengers don’t need a passport to travel. People will need to provide proof that they’ve applied for a passport to regain entry into the United States.
