Good news for anyone that’s been waiting to receive their passport.

The State Department has added extra hours and staff to help process the onslaught of passport applications that came flooding in after new passport laws went into affect.

Last week, the State Department issued a record 412,000 of the documents, the most ever issued over a seven-day period, easily besting the only week-old previous high mark of 379,000, the department said in a statement on Monday.

“Passport production has hit record highs as the department works diligently to honor its mission and ensure that every citizen gets a passport in time for planned travel,” it said.

They are now on track to process expedited Passports in the regular 2 weeks (as the height of the crisis even expedited services were taking up to 4 weeks to process.) and normal passport applications are taking an average of 10 weeks to process.
