JetBlue To Be Investigated For Delays - Passengers Stuck On Planes

March 1, 2007 – 8:47 pm

There is more bad news for the discount carrier JetBlue. The top official from the Transportation Department has called for an investigation of JetBlue.

“I have serious concerns about airlines’ contingency planning that allows passengers to sit on the tarmac for hours on end,” Transportation Secretary Mary Peters said Tuesday in a statement. “It is imperative that airlines do everything possible to ensure that situations like these do not occur again. Passengers have a right to know what to expect when it comes to ground delays,” she said.

JetBlue had several issues in February when planes were grounded and passengers were stuck on runways for hours in New York City. They were also forced to make an emergency landing in Pennsylvania because of an electronic failure.

The Transportation Association has already asked the FAA if they could allow delayed flights flights to come back to terminals so passengers can exit planes without forcing those planes to lose their place in line for takeoff.

It should be interesting to see what happens with this investigation. Hopefully it will make the future of flying more enjoyable for the paying passenger.
