Four More Places I’d Like Visit

The world is so big and there are so many places I’d like to go and see. Traveling is fun and helps your mind, body and spirit by awakening possibilities and rouses your imagination.

I have to admit, the lore of gold and diamonds is enough to captivate my attention!

I’ve been giving some thought to more places I’d like to visit and here is what I came up with.

1. Deadwood, South Dakota. I thank HBO for this one. We’ve been watching the series “Deadwood” on DVD and the whole appeal of Deadwood sounds like a like a great walk into the past. I’d love to visit the final resting place of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane.

2. Crater of Diamonds State Park, Arkansas. What could be more exciting than spending some time digging for diamonds? Crater of Diamonds State Park is open to the public and it’s a case of “finders keepers!” Any diamonds you find are yours to keep! There have been over 25,000 diamonds found there since 1972 so with a little luck and the right rental equipment I might be able to find a “diamond in the rough,” too!

3. The Grand Canyon. Not a whole lot of explaining to do on this one. The Grand Canyon has to be awe inspiring in real life. Perhaps the next time we make it out to Nevada we’ll rent a car and make the drive there?

4. California. There are tons of things to see there. The Golden Gate Bridge, The Pacific Coastline, Alcatraz and Napa Valley are just a few places that get my imagination running.

What 4 places would you like to visit and why? Your suggestions might make me add more travel spots to my list.

    2. Go to Dyersville, Iowa and see the Field of Dreams. Everyone loves the movie, of course. But it’s not even that the movie was made there and that they’ve kept the field and the house pretty much unchanged. What’s amazing about the Field of Dreams is that right in the middle of a cornfield in Iowa, for God’s sake, something magical is happening. You recognize it immediately from the road and start to smile because it’s really there. And you walk around and sit on the bleachers and maybe run the bases or play a pick-up game of baseball with anyone who happens to be there. One time when I was at the Field of Dreams there were people from Germany and Sweden playing catch — in the middle of a cornfield in Iowa. It’s there for everyone. Just bring your dreams with you.
