More Advertising Coming To An Security Checkpoint Near You?

January 10, 2007 – 12:38 pm

Don’t be surprised if the next time you go through a electronic security point at the airport, the familiar gray tray you put your personal affects in is lined with a shiny ad for a company.

This type of advertising could raise a lot of extra income for airports. It’s expected that large bin ads could be sold for $250,000 to $500,000 a year. These advertisers would also be responsible for buying the bins, checkpoint tables and carts to return empty bins to the front of the checkpoint.

LAX is already using bin advertising and it’s expected to spread to many other airports over the coming months.
