Recently we decided to take a little road trip and headed up to Niagara Falls. It has been unseasonably warm in Ohio and the drive there was no problem. No snow, no accidents, just a nice 4 hour car ride through Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.

We stayed at the Sheraton on the Falls in the heart of Niagara Falls. I would have to say that this is one of the nicer hotels we’ve stayed at in the area.

We decided to get a Fallsview room. It had an excellent view of both the American and Horseshoe Falls. It was nice that there was a little glass door that you could open for fresh air or to get a clear view of the falls. Once night fell, the Falls were illuminated in rainbow colors, making it even more breath taking.

The bed was very comfortable and had more pillows than we needed. The bathroom was a little small, but it was big enough to do your business. If you’re picky about blow drying your hair, be sure to bring your own hair dryer since the one the hotel provides isn’t very strong.

The hotel itself was clean. The employees were friendly and helpful and allowed us to check in an hour and a half early (mainly because it’s ‘off season’ I reckon.) The lobby was tastefully decorated and had plenty of chairs for anyone looking to “hang out” in the lobby. If you like to start your day with a Starbucks, you’ll find one at the bottom of the elavators.

As for extra charges?
We were able to get wireless internet on our laptop for an additional $15.00 for 24 hours and parking for the short time we were there was $8.00.

We enjoyed dinner once again at The Guru, but the next time we’re going to try another spot, just to be different. I’m sure there are other choices for vegetarians there, we just have to try them.

It was a nice little road trip that didn’t end up costing much but was a really nice break. Just about everything on Clifton Hill was still open, sans the ice cream shops.

I’m looking forward to getting back there again sometime soon..
