Today AirTran Airways announced that they are adding nonstop service between Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
This new flight will use a Boeing 717 and will have the following flight schedule.
Flight 1904 departs Gulfport-Biloxi at 4:58 p.m. and arrives in Fort Lauderdale at 7:49 p.m. Flight 1903 departs Ft. Lauderdale at 3:30 p.m. and arrives in Gulfport-Biloxi at 4:28 p.m. This is a daily flight.
This is a welcome addition to both areas since both communities suffered damages from Hurricane Katrina. Many local businesses are re-opening their doors to tourists and visitors alike.
“Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is pleased with the return of AirTran Airways’ service to Ft. Lauderdale,” stated Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport Authority Chairman Travis Lott. “The private sector coalition between AirTran Airways, Beau Rivage, Grand Casino Biloxi and the IP Casino Resort will be a major stimulus to tourism, business and industry.”
Airtran is the only commercial airline that offers XM satellite radio to passengers, so just an added bonus if you’re in the mood.
