Seeing Niagara Falls at the IMax Theater
August 12, 2006 – 2:28 pm
The one thing that’s nice about Niagara Falls is how many different ways you can see it.
You can see it at a number of public viewing areas, from the Skywheel, from inside the Skylon Tower, on a helicopter tour, on the Maid of the Mist and even at an IMAX theater.
We decided to go and catch a viewing of the “Falls Movie”, the longest running and most popular IMAX movies today.
The movie is about 45 minutes long and gives an overview of Niagara Falls and its’ history. It begins with the story of Lewana, an Indian princess. According to legend, Lewana was unhappy with an arranged marriage and didn’t want to shame her family, so she sacraficed her life by going over the Horseshoe Falls. Her spirit is said to still be in the area of the Great Falls.
It covers history including war, business and the obligatory daredevils that challenged the Falls in Oak Barrels, Rubber innertubes, and other homemade contraptions.
The movie was air conditioned, so it was a relaxing break from the heat.
Tickets are $14.00 Canadian/ Adult, $9.95 Canadian/Children.
