The Horseshoe Falls is extremely impressive. It’s not hard to imagine why Niagara Falls has been such a hot tourist spot for so long. The two giant waterfalls are extremely powerful. The mist hovers around the entire city area, and the sound of the Falls, called “Thundering Water” by local Indians of yesteryear, can be heard for miles away.
Niagara Falls was considered such a resource, that people fought over it for years. From Indians, through the French, British, and Americans, the area saw warfare to attempt to control the powerful waterway. It’s hard to imagine that anyone could underestimate the value of the region. The natural beauty and sheer uniqueness is hard to miss.
The “Maid of the Mist” takes you extremely close to the Horseshoe Falls, as tourists have discovered for many decades. You definitely need your plastic ad-hoc raincoats. If not, you might end up drenched, or worse.
