Taking a romantic vacation is fun when you’re just dating, a newlywed or if you’ve been married for 25 years.

Here are some destinations and suggestions for your next romantic vacation.

  • The Poconos Mountains, PennsylvaniaThe Poconos are located in the Northeast corner of Pennsylvania. The area is very beautiful and you can find a number of different accomodations including Bed & Breakfasts, Motels, Campgrounds, Cottage and Cabin Rentals and Country Inns.
This is a quaint honeymoon destination that’s very popular with newlyweds. Time doesn’t move as quickly and you can leave your hurried life to enjoy mother nature. Every season has its own unique beauty, autumn is the perfect time to see the mountainside painted in vibrant shades of red, yellow and orange.
  • Niagara Falls. Canada or New York Nothing beats the unparalled beauty of the Horseshoe Falls. The Falls can be viewed from either the American side or the Canadian side, the Canadian side gets better reviews. The Maid of the Mist, a boat tour that goes under the falls docks on the Canadian side is worth seeing. This is another popular spot for newlyweds.
  • Mackinaw Island, Michigan This island is a great place to really slow things down. You’ll find no motor vehicles anywhere here. All transportation is done by horse and buggy, your feet or by bike. Visitors take a 16 minute ferry ride from St. Igace and provided by Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry which has been in service for 55 years. Once on the Island you step back into a working 1800 era Victorian village. You’ll guided tours and historic parks. The relaxed nature of the island and beauty of the sunrise and sunsets are stunning. Mackinaw Island is located in Upper Michigan, so it’s a “cool” place to visit. Average high temp in August is a comfortable 71 degrees. There are a number hotels and resorts, Bed & Breakfast or cottage rentals available. The winter season is the perfect time for a cross country skiing vacation.

After you’ve decided on your perfect romantic vacation spot, don’t forget to pack the extras like scented candles, massage oils, decadent chocolates and your favorite bottle of wine or champagne to make your vacation extra special and a memory that lasts a lifetime.
