Today Marriott International announced that all of their guest hotels in the United States and Canada are going to be 100% smoke free beginning in September.

This change affects all hotel brands managed by Marriot including The Ritz-Carlton, Courtyard, Marriot, JW Marriot, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites, Fairfield Inn, TownePlace Suites and Marriott ExecuStay.
“Creating a smoke-free environment demonstrates a new level of service
and care for our guests and associates,” said J.W. Marriott, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of Marriott International. “Our family of brands is united on this important health issue and we anticipate very positive customer feedback.”
This new policy will be in place for all guest rooms, restaurants, meeting and conference rooms, employee areas, lounge areas and public spaces. At this time 90% of Marriott’s rooms are already smoke free, and growing demand for dictated the change.
Who really wants to stay in a dank, smelly and smoke filled room anyhow?
