Lizards and Banana Trees in the Dominican Republic

I’ve always had a liking for reptiles, my favorite being the frog.

Lizards run a close second. In fact when I was a kid I owned a couple of chameleons that were pretty cool. I loved to watch them turn from shades of brown to bright greens. They were quite entertaining and used to scare my sisters, which was a lot of fun back then.

Beach Lizard

That’s another reason to love the Dominican Republic. There are hundreds of these little creatures running about. During our visit there, Darren and I would go down to what we called
“Lizard Alley” in the morning and enjoy some OJ and do some lizard and people watching.

We had the opportunity to see a real banana tree on our resort. I had no idea that bananas grow up in their bunches. Hopefully the photo below will help convey my thoughts a little better..

Banana Tree in DR

Spirit Air runs some crazy promotions for flights to the Caribbean, so I’m going to have to look for a bargain to visit Sosua again sometime soon. The DR is truly paradise.
