Starting a Savings Plan for Travel
April 12, 2006 – 10:44 amIf you are one of those people that thinks that traveling and vacations are too expensive for your budget, you should consider starting a Travel Savings Fund.
Just like any type of savings, tucking away 25.00 a week for a year would add up to $1,300.00 for the purpose of traveling. Thirteen hundred dollars
would easily afford a round trip airline ticket and accomodations for one.
If you were planning a driving vacation, this same $1,300.00 would easily pay for 5 nights at a decent hotel and even a few attractions for an entire family.
In order to establish how much you need to save for your vacation, you’ll need to know a few things.
- How many people do you need to budget for? Obviously a trip for two will be less than a trip for a family of five.
- What type of vacation would you like to take? There are a lot of vacation options out there. Would you prefer an all inclusive vacation at a beach, a trip to see the lights of the Big Cities or maybe camping is more oyur style. The type of vacation you’d like to take can make a big difference in the amount of money you need to budget.
- Don’t forget about spending money.Plan ahead for any activities planned. Things like taxies, parking, admission fees, and dining add up quickly. If you visit somewhere like Las Vegas you might want to put a few extra dollars aside, just for a little fun!
Always remember that traveling isn’t impossible. If you plan ahead it’s actually quite easy.
