2 Places to visit in Northern Ohio
April 12, 2006 – 11:16 amWith spring and summer quickly arriving, it’s time to consider a trip to Northern Ohio. With the shores of Lake Erie, there is plenty to do.
1. Cedar Point. Best known for being the “Rollercoast”. Cedar Point is located in Sandusky, Ohio and is open daily May 6 through September 4, 2006.
For more information about Cedar Point, visit their website. You can also find their indoor waterpark, Castaway Bay and their outdoor waterpark, Soak City at this same location. Cedar Point is one of the oldest amusement parks in American History. Home to over fifteen Rollercoasters, including Kiddie Coasters, you are sure to find a ride to thrill you. You can enjoy a lazy ride on The Giant Wheel, a 150 foot ferris wheel that gives riders a spectacular view of Cedar Point and Lake Erie. The Paddleboat Ride is a relaxing river tour on a real Paddleboat, which features a number of animated displays.
2. Put-In-Bay. Find fun and history on this natural Lake Erie Island. Home to the Commodore Perry Monument, this island is accessible by public ferries that leave from downtown Port Clinton and the Catawba Island Point. You can find bike rentals, golf, dining, parasailing, live entertainment, and jet ski rentals. Perry’s Cave is a natural limestone cave that lies 52 feet below the surface of South Bass Island, so there is history here as well as an active nightlife in the summer months. Don’t be surprised to hear Jimmy Buffet performing Live on the island, as Put-In-Bay is one of his favorite haunts. On a warm summer evening downtown is abuzz with activity. People come from all over to enjoy the Lake Erie Islands. It’s like the Caribbean of Northern America.
Either of these destinations is affordable and an enjoyable way to spend a day or a weekend away from home.
