Terror Plot Disrupts Air Travel

August 11, 2006 – 7:09 am

Thank goodness that authorities uncovered a massive plot to blow up US bound airplanes yesterday, causing the largest crackdown in airport security since September 11, 2001.

If you are planning air travel in the forseeable future it would be wise to plan ahead to avoid delays or having to forfeit property. All airlines have implemented stricter security guidelines for passengers. Although policies may vary slightly between air carriers, here are some of the new security regulations that have been put in place on the heels of what Scotland Yard called “Mass Murder on an unimaginable scale”

  • No liquids are allowed past security checks. This includes beverages, perfume, shaving cream, shampoo and even toothpaste.
  • Carry-on luggage can cause delays. For the time being all luggage (including personal affects like a purse, or laptop computer) must be checked. Stricter security checks of carry-on luggage will be in place.

It would be wise to check with your airline for policy changes if you have a flight scheduled or
visit the Federal Aviation Administration for updates on flight advisories.
