New Flight Service ‘DayJet’ To Launch In Florida
August 6, 2007 – 6:00 amAre you a businessperson that’s looking for an alternative way to fly in the state of Florida? Well later this month or in early September a new start-up airline is taking off of the ground in hopes of catering to short flight needs around the Sunshine State.
DayJet will use “very light jets” to fly one to three passengers on a per-seat, “on demand” executive air travel alternative to busy commercial and international airports.
I see DayJet as an opportunity for a business our size to have access to jet travel on demand to meet a client when we need to meet a client,” said Paul-Hus, vice president of business development for Ft. Lauderdale-based HyPower Inc. “I would not be at the mercy of commercial scheduling, where I may have to fly to an airport 50 miles or 100 miles away from my final destination.”
The new airline is planning on using the Eclipse 500 jet, which will allow passengers to get to their destination and back home the same day. DayJet won’t have a set itinerary and prices aren’t set. Instead, the company will use a computer system for companies to input their travel information (such as departure times and destination) and set the price from there.
This sounds like an interesting flight service for business people, but the question will be whether or not there is enough demand to keep them in the air.
