International Tourists To Visit U.S. In Pre-911 Levels

March 5, 2007 – 12:37 pm

It’s take quite some time for the tourism industry in the US to completely rebound from 9-11, but it’s starting to look like things have rebounded quite nicely. In 2007, there should be more international tourists visiting the United States than any other time time in history:

In addition, Gutierrez said, the country collected a record $107.4 billion in travel receipts in 2006, a 5 percent increase from the previous year. An estimated 51.1 million people from other countries visited the United States last year, just under the 51.2 million America hosted in 2000 and up 1.9 million from 2005.

Of course, not all parts of the United States are represented equally. Some areas, like Florida, have had a tough time attracting visitors recently. The majority of U.S. visitors, not surprisingly come from Canada and Mexico. They represent nearly 57% of all visitors.
