Have you ever wanted to become one with nature? There is a place that can make you feel like you are doing just that. If you are looking to plan a trip in the near future consider the Niagara Falls. While there visit the Butterfly Conservatory for a science lesson you will never forget.
Watching a butterfly is almost like seeing a colorful flower float throughout the sky. They have an elegant flight pattern that often seems to paint the walls with color. Here you will see extraordinary greenery and flowing water which will set the stage for hundreds of fluttering butterflies.

The 11,000 sq ft butterfly conservatory houses numerous kinds of species of butterflies. You can observe them flying about while making their way exit out of their chrysalides. Feeding the butterflies could be a challenge if it were not for the large variety of foliage which is placed throughout the conservatory. There are bright colorful flowers for the butterflies to sip nectar on so observe carefully as you may get to see them feed.
Housed inside of the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens the conservatory is visited each day by many tourists. You will find over 2,000 tropical butterflies who are allowed to fly freely among exotic blossoms and lush greenery. There are several walking paths for you to follow which make their way around a pond, past a waterfall and eventually to the Emergence window which is where you can observe the butterflies preparing to take their first flight ever. This exotic rainforest setting is the most amazing habitat for the butterflies.
Prices will vary but on average will run around $11 for adults and $7 for children 6-12. Children under the age of 5 get in free. The conservatory stays open all year long except for one day which is Christmas. However, there are times when the conservatory is crowded and there may be a waiting list to get in. This time usually occurs during the summer months when tourism is at its highest peak of the year.
When you enter the Butterfly Conservatory you will be asked to watch a short video on how to keep the butterflies safe as well as yourself during your walk throughout the area. The humidity is usually high due to the needs of the butterflies so depending on the season you make want to take that into consideration when visiting to help you decide how to dress. Once you have watched the video you are free to roam as you like to watch butterflies. Often you will be surprised when you see them land on your shoulder or the head of someone passing by.
