Affordable Family Vacations - Some Ideas For Your Family

February 17, 2007 – 2:45 pm

Taking a family vacation doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg, in fact many family vacations can be quite affordable with a little planning.

Here are some ideas to have the family vacation of a lifetime without spending a lot of extra dollars.

Consider a Nature Vacation. There are so many beautiful places in the world to see. Consider taking your family somewhere they can get back to nature. Most states have parks that you can rent a cabin or have a guesthouse that you can rent a room. Although it might not be a high end luxury vacation, the memories will be worth their weight in gold.

Skip A Plane Ride. Fuel for the car is a lot less expensive than paying for round trip plane tickets for the entire family. Even if you drive an SUV, one or two tanks of gas can easily get you out of your everyday life and into a different frame of mind.

If possible, plan your vacation during the week. Rates at many hotels and resorts have lower rates Sunday through Thursday nights so you could save a few bucks by “traveling against the crowd.”

Research online. Spend some time researching your vacation online. Many times you can find vacation deals at Expedia.com, Travelocity.com or Priceline.com. A lot of family destination spots probably operate their own websites and might offer deals, coupons or other incentives if you visit their website directly.

I hope that these tips will help you plan your next affordable family vacation..Enjoy!
